St. John's Wort

Disclaimer: you should ALWAYS speak with your doctor before starting St. John's Wort, especially if you are taking ANY other medications!

St. John's Wort (aka. Hypericum perforatum) is an herb which has shown consistently effective natural antidepressant properties in the scientific literature. Its active component hypericin is thought to enhance dopamine transmission in the brain.

St. John's Wort is known to interact with numerous prescription medications as it influences certain liver enzymes. This can be a serious problem if not being monitored by a physician or other medical provider.
